The Boeing Company is seeking an experienced Senior Human Factors Engineer to conduct human engineering design and analysis activities in Boeing Research & Technology's Mission Systems & Autonomy organization. Apply principles of human capabilities and constraints (e.g., physiology, cognition, perception, ergonomics) and knowledge of the user and their environments to assist in the development, test and evaluation of safe and effective user-centered technologies.
Utilize human engineering tools and methods (e.g., task and workload analysis, digital human modeling, simulation and prototyping, usability evaluation, statistical and human error analysis) to assist in the development, test and evaluation of safe and effective user interfaces and products.
Identify human engineering design issues and develop solutions as a user advocate to ensure human engineering requirements are met by the design.
Apply knowledge of the human engineering design process, its elements, and its relationship to the product lifecycle to effectively analyze product design.
Perform rapid prototyping of user interfaces & experiences (e.g. storyboards, wireframes, mockups, and designs).
Perform evaluations of user interfaces, service solutions (e.g., training, analytics) and prototype capabilities (e.g. flight deck, ground control stations).
This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.
The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a US Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. US Person includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
1+ years of experience technical leading teams or projects
4+ years of experience in Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, User Experience, or a related discipline
Bachelor's degree or higher in Human Factors or Psychology with emphasis on Systems Engineering, Safety or Aviation
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience of task, function analysis; human, team and mission requirements capture
Experience in aerospace, automotive, robotics, training and simulation or similar industry.
Experience with human-machine interface design.
Experience decomposing and applying Human Engineering requirements.
Experience with human performance modeling tools (e.g., Micro Saint Sharp, IMPRINT, IPME), computer aided design tools and systems (e.g., computer aided design/computer aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM), computer aided three dimensional interactive (CATIA).
Experience manipulating systems models in systems engineering tools (Rhapsody, Cameo).
Experience applying User Centered Design principles to software.
Familiarity with user-centered design practices (e.g., audience analysis, persona definition, goal-directed task analysis, contextual enquiry).
Expertise in experimental psychology, cognitive science, statistics.
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
